Music video questionaire analysis

In this questionaire i asked 20 people to complete my questionaire and here i will be presenting an overall evaluation of the results.

13 females and 7 males took part in the questionaire. This shows that females are more interested in the music industry and they music videoas that artist record for there songs.This make it a easier for me to find my target audience and who i should be targeting. My video should be aiming at mostly females as i have found from this question that the majoirity of them are female.

Most people who took part in my questionaire were all in their teenage years. This shows that most of audience that i should be appealing to with my music video should be aimed at teenagers, This means less explicit scenes and making sure that the music video is appropriate for the viewers

 

3. What sort of music genre do you listen to? (circle more than once is acceptable if your taste varies)

Hip-hop/rap Rock Pop RnB Dubstep 

 

17 out of 20 people said they prefer listening to hip-hop/Rap music. This shows that the generation has changed and that most people are listening to the hip-hop/Rap genre of music. This shows what type of music genera i should choose for my music video as i know who my target audience are and where i am going to recieve the most interest from.

 

4. What do you expect to see in a music video?

 

In this question most people said that they would like itto be a professional standard and make good use of editing. They said they would like to see good scenes and scenes that match the music, Good lip syncing and effects but they also said they would want too see a message on the music video that people can understand when they watch the music video.

 

5. What sort of scenery would be best for a rap music video?

 

Majority of people said that they would like to see alot of the streets and urban scenary in the background to make it a real rap music video and show what the genre is representing. This tellsme that in my music video i should take lot of shots in the urban and rural areas in the city to make sure that it looks like a real rap music video and that it is representing where rap started from and where it came from.

 

6. Should lip syncing be done throughout the whole music video?

 

More than three quaters of the people felt that too much lip sycning can get a bit boring and that their should be scenes where the music is playing with the lyrics ofcourse but without the artist lip sycing but more just hanging around showing the scenary and telling a story. This tells me that lip sycing will not have to be inserted throughout the music videoa and has given me ideas top put in the making of the music videos within the music video to make it more enjoyable and show a journey of how we created it.

 

7. Do you expect to see video effects in the music video?

 

Everyone i asked answered very similarly as they all said that greenscreen would be a very good effect to use in a music video as most music videoa do include it in their music video, they also said that we should have colour effects to such as making it black and white in some scenes or other colours and motions. this tells methat editing will be a long process but iut has to be done and included and to produce to a near professional standard.

 

8. What makes a good music video?

 

Most people said that they would like to see alot of things in a music video, Effetcs, scenary, the artists, Good camera quality and also emotions. This tells me that the music video has to be pwoerful and show people what we are representing and what sort of convention we are trying to challange. I have ideas of putting humour but also deep and sad moving secnes.

 

9. Do you expect to see titles in the music videos e.g artist name, label name, album name?

 

'Yes' 'make sure you credit everyone who took part' 'include album name' This is a few responses i recieve from the people who took part in my questionaire. This tells me that i must include the names of people who took oart and helped with the production.

 

10. How often do you watch Rap music videos?

 

20 out of 20 people said that they watch alot of rap music video but i think that is because the main music industry is dominated by the rap music and has taken over peoples hearts. This tells me that i am aiming at the right audience and by picking the rap music genre for my music video is the right choice and i will recieve a good number of interest from the audience.

Resources / Equipment 

The resources and equipment we will use:

- Panasonic V100 which is a powerful HD camera which we can use to take good shots for our music video and be in good quality and very clear. 

- Lighting, Which we will use to take shorts at night or in dark environment so we can see the person or object while shooting. 

- Green screen, which we can use to shoot an object or person in our music video in a edited background and add various effects. 

- iMovie, Which we will use to edit the music video to add affects and make it more creative.  

- Final Cut pro, Which we will use to make professional edits and affects and use to to bring it up the the best standards possible with the limited resources.

-Apple Mac,  which we will use to upload our music video on and edit it using the different softwares it offers and also use it to store our music videos and the different shots we will have taken.

The Brief i will be choosing

Brief

I will be doing brief number 1. A prmotoion package for the release of a albumn, to include a music video, together with two of the following three options:

• A cover for its release as a part of digipak (CD/DVD Package);
• A magazine advertisement for the digipak (CD/DVD Package).

In this brief we have to do a Music video where we will be doing using a a track with copyright permission and use various different shots and angle to make the best possible music video with the equipment we have.

I will also be producing a CD cover for the music video using appropriate pictures that suits the theme and genre of the music but also goes with the music video and also make it look attarctive and professional.

I will also be making a magazine cover of an advertisement in the magazine for the launch of the album, i will have to ensure that it looks good and professional.

Watch throne is one of the controversial album of 2012, its one of the anticipated album by the fan as both hip-hop gods jay z and kanye west collaborate on the same album. They had to make sure that the album cover looked classy, spacial and made sure it stood out to the fans and the public. This album cover stands out alot as you can see it has various different shapes covered with the gold colour the gold colour represent in this album cover a prestigious album and a great one as gold is one of the most valuable possessions in the world so the colour of gold shows that this album is big and awesome and very valuable to have. The shapes almost remind you of royalty and the 3d effects on the pictures with the shapes coming out looks really attractive and really stands out to the public. Theres no picture of the artist an no names just the picture plain and simple, this shows that its a picture that should stay in the people mind almost brainwashing them, this album tells us that it expects us to know which artist this album belongs to as jay z and kanye and international superstars.

Take care is also one of the anticipated albums of the year, drake has won the hearts of millions with his music and his slick style of rapping, the guys a natural chick magnet, his album has been bought by millions including me as his music is just mesmerising. The album itself has the picture of drake the artist himself with a candle holder, wine glass and a little statue of a bird and they are all covered in gold this shows off his class and money and it represent him as a person who has a lot of money and class you can almost see that the whole album main two colours are black and gold to make sure it stands out in the puclics eyes.

Revocery is a album which shook the music world with the return of a living legend and one of the greatest rapper ever to be breathing the one and only eminem, he dissappeared for a while as he had some personal problems, his album recovery well its syas it all in the name he back from rehab and ready to take controle of the charts again with his astonishing lyrics and extraordinary beats. The album has a picture of eminem the artist himself walking on a long road all by himself and it shows to us the public his story that he has a long journey ahead to get things back to the normal and get back on top of the charts once more and dominating the industry again.





Research for magazine advertisement

This magazine advertisement is very well laid out and as you can see straightaway the wrists is on the advertisement real big and close up. It catches the eye of people and when i first saw this i was like' oh thats wretch 32' so straight away i knew who it was and it pulled me to view the advertisement and see what is going on. The font and writing is very big and BOLD and also in capitals which makes is stand out more to the audience. The Design is very unique and clever with blue, white, black and white as the main colours and it goes very well with the design. The advertisement has this light shining from the the  right hand corner just shining on the artist and i think that what the designer wanted to do to.

Wretch 32 is now one of the biggest rap artist in the UK and has sold millions of albums across the UK and europe and Australia, He's a phenomenon and to people he regarded as one of the finest so when designing a magazine advertisement such as this one it had to be very professional and very BOLD and big so that it stands out to the audience and that it can easily catch the audiences eye.

The scenery seems to be very urban, ghetto and rural, You can see in the background there us a picture of flats to show the urban scenery, The graffiti effects to shows that ghetto theme.  The magazine advertisment represents Wretch 32 and the rap music genre and this basically sets the theme of his music and who he is.



This magazine advertisement is very appealing as you can the first thing that it has is the artist real big and standing out, The picture is vert appealing, very sexy and hot and this attracts a lot of attention of men but also women who aspire to be like that. Everyone knows Ciara so when they see her in a magazine advertisement they straight away are attracted to the advert and will look at what it is. The name 'Ciara' Is in block CAPITALS and is very BOLD so this way it stand out to the audience who are flicking through pages on magazine advert. The picture is taken with a green screen effect in the background so you can see that effects have been used and the advertisement has been created to a professional standard.

Ciara is one of the biggest female singers in the world she has sold hundreds of millions of albums across the world and has had many number one single thats been in the charts for a long time and vert often, The magazine advert has been design to make sure that the picture and her name has been very big and standards out as much as she does in the music industry.

In comparison to the other magazine advertisement this one is much bigger and stands out much more to the audience especially with the sex appeal in this magazine advert, More women tend to read magazines so this is the perfect advert to attract men to read the magazine but also it gets women both old and young to look at the magazine and get encouraged by it.





The magazine advertisement has the main artist on the advert with him on the mic, As you can see already the theme looks very classic with the suit and tie, the black and white effects. What this is trying to show is the class that this artist has and the music that genre that he represents,. This sort of effects the black and white usually is very good at attracting the audience and catching their eye. You can see on the right hand side the ratings of his new album releasing and they are all rated by newspapers and magazine so the source is reliable but what it also does is attracts audiences to pay attention to the advert and really be impressed by the rating so its a good marketing tactic.

Plan B started out as a rapper in the underground and took everybody by sup rising with his quality of singing, no one knew his talent for singing and what he had stored inside him, this album took everyone by storm and shocked the music industry but the album sold very well and with his new classy theme from the underground to the classy living people loved it.

In the comparison to the other magazine advert this one is a little different, This is magazine advert is more selling the album rather then the artist and his music whether the other two magazine adverts are more about advertising the artist and the music. This magazine advert is a lot more simple, classic and a classy where as the wretch 32 magazine is more ghetto and the Ciara is more sexy and appealing.
